USC vs Arizona State

On 9/26/15 the number 17 (on the AP top 25 poll) USC Trojans beat the Arizona State Sun Devils 42-14. The Trojans had an amazing game on the road and had a much needed win, after loosing to Stanford on 9/19/15. Cody Kessler (quarterback) and the USC offense had an amazing game. Cody Kessler had an excellent game by throwing for 375 yards, completing 19 out of 33 throws, and throwing an amazing five touchdowns. The Trojans threw the ball more than often this game, but it certainly worked because the Trojans blew out the Sun Devils. Adoree Jackson (starting cornerback/back-up receiver) played offense more than often this week, but he had a game to remember. Adoree Jackson had three receptions, 131 yards, and an 80-yard touchdown. JuJu Smith-Schuster also had an amazing game (like always) by having five receptions, 103 yards, and two touchdowns. The defense also had an amazing game by shutting down a very good quarterback, Michael Bercovici (Taft High School alumni). Michael Bercovici completed only 23 passes out of 44 throws, and threw for only 272 yards. Arizona State was forced to run the ball once they realized that their pass offense wasn't going to win the game for them. The Trojans defense was having a little trouble stopping Demario Richard (Arizona State running back), but they quickly figured out a way to stop him. Once the Trojans got a comfortable lead, they started substituting in back-ups to keep the starters healthy. The Trojans had an overall great game, which led to a blowout win. The Trojans will get a chance to rest next week and get better because they have a bye week next week. Hopefully the Trojans will be able to beat the Washington Huskies in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to change their record to 4-1.

USC vs Stanford

Unfortunately, the USC Trojans were upset (unexpectedly defeated) by the Stanford Cardinals on 9/19/15. The USC Trojans dropped from number six on the AP top 25 poll to number nineteen. The Trojans offense had an amazing game, but the defense couldn't find a way to stop Stanford's run-heavy offense. By the Cardinals running the ball for a majority of the game (causes the clock to rarely stop), they were in possession of the ball for most of the game. The Cardinals had the ball for almost double the time of the Trojans (Stanford- 39:29/USC- 20:31). Although the Cardinals ran the ball for a good portion of the game, they beat the Trojans in every aspect of the game. The Cardinals had more total yards (Stanford- 474/USC- 427), passing yards (Stanford- 279/USC- 272), rushing yards (Stanford- 195/USC- 155), and time of possession. The Trojans offense had a good game, but the defense just couldn't figure out a strategy to stop the Cardinals. The Trojans quarterback (Cody Kessler) had an amazing game by completing 25 out of 32 throws, throwing for 272 yards, and throwing three touchdowns. JuJu Smith-Schuster (wide receiver) also had an excellent game by having eight receptions (catches), catching for 153 yards, and one touchdown. Hopefully the Trojans bring their A-game to play ASU (Arizona State University) on 9/26/16 to bring their record up to 3-1.

USC vs. Idaho

On Saturday (9/12/15) number six (AP Top 25 poll) USC faced unrated Idaho in the LA Memorial Coliseum. The USC Trojans had an amazing game, but I can't say the same for Idaho. The Trojans beat Idaho 59-9. The game was expected to be a blow out because the Trojans are a college football power house, while Idaho isn't such a dominant team. The Trojans quarterback had an impeccable game by throwing for 410 yards, completing 26 of his 31 throws, and throwing three touchdowns. Another star of the game was wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster who had ten receptions, 192 yards, and two touchdowns. The stats above are very rare to get in one game, so it was really amazing to see the sophomore JuJu Smith-Schuster get them in one game. Both running backs Tre Madden and Justin Davis had amazing games by combining for 434  yards and two touchdowns each. The defense also had an amazing game allowing only 2.2 yards per carry, and a total of 311 yards (a small amount of yards compared to the 737 yards that USC totaled). All in all, the Trojans had an amazing game and are now 2-0 (have won two games and have zero losses) after beating Arkansas State 55-6 last week. Hopefully they will be able to beat Stanford on Saturday (9/19/15) to go keep their winning streak alive!!
